Does anyone else feel the same as I do, or am I just wrong?... Are people as excited for this game as they were for Halo 3?

Oh yeah, the Nightfall armour has changed a lot since the Beta. It looks great now.

I also got that lame flame pattern Recruit body armour. Icky.

I feel like there's more hype for this than there was for Halo 4 or Reach. But I don't think 343i will ever be able to gain the same hype that Halo 3 had. I've never seen more hype for a game.

The story needing lore knowledge to understand is the most retarded criticism of the game that I've heard. This is the FIFTH installment of the series, anyone interested in the story at this point would have played all of the previous games and possibly read the expanded universe. It's a given that new players aren't going to understand the story completely.

I remember when Halo 3 came out, I could feel the hype. Halo 4? Not as much, but there was still a rift of excitement.

Now with Halo 5, it's just kinda... oh... another Halo game... all right...

Yeah, it must be a getting older thing. Wow, Halo 3 came out eight years ago when I was a sophmore in high school. Think of everything that was at stake in the story; we were going to finish the fight. We were getting four player co-op, forge, unbelievable custom game options, etc... Now friends I knew then will barely play even with a new release. I know how you feel. I think warzone and mp are what will save this game.

Yeah. The only reason reviewers are complaining is because they likely aren't long-time fans of the series. They're playing because it's their job.

Anyone who actually cares about the story wouldn't be picking the game up on it's fifth entry and if they did, they would either get MCC or pull up a Halopedia page if they need to. Halo 5 has in-game biographies on all the major characters, and making the fifth game not need at leats the previous one is a stupid request. I don't understand why something like Metal Gear is allowed a far more convoluted and confusing plot that requires you to play games before the fifth entry, but it's a big deal if Halo does it.

I was watching the live event when they mentioned that 343i will be doing walkthroughs of the entire missions, then nope'd on out of there.

I'm probably going to go dark on Halo stuff completely after today until I finish the campaign.

Seeing Lemon place the campaign at least on par with 4 is a good sign for me. I generally agree with him on Halo campaigns, so this is exciting for me. Can't wait to play myself

not a lot, but not a lot is really needed, honestly.

locke does talk a little about who blue team are though, and why they'd follow chief through anything.
vale and buck also speak about halsey and the spartan ii program briefly.

it didn't explain what the domain was though, which is dumb, because it's an important thing regarding the story

other than that, it's fine without any eu knowledge

Level design is good. Lots of verticality makes it super fun.
Pacing could be better. There's a lot happening. It's okay sometimes, and not so good sometimes.

Fucking cliff-hanger. It's like Halo 2 all over again.

Genesis is absolutely gorgeous though.

There's alternative paths that are generally hidden behind destructable walls and rocks.
They aren't too different though. They usually just lead you to higher ground so you can get the jump on the enemy, or go under/around.
