Konami almost had a genius SH game, but canned it. 343 had a brilliant marketing campaign for H5 but released an 'okay' game.

It's not as bad as Halo "fans" would have you think, but things are still pretty FUBAR after Halo 5.
Halo fans literally don't like anything whatsoever. Even if they got a Halo game that was a carbon copy of Halo 3 they would still hate it and send 343i death threats. When H2A came out people actually bitched that it played like Halo 2.
That said 343 are not exactly innocent either. Halo 4s weapon balance at launch was abysmal, and they did not release a classic playlist for months. Level design in campaign was poor to be certain but anyone complaining about the story 99.99% of the time has no legitimate complaints, and just flat out didn't even play the game, much less pay any attention to the story to begin with.

MCC was legit not even 343i's fault. They were made to Port 4 games on to one disk by Microsoft in less than a year while they were still working on Halo 5. Of course Halo fans being the pack of rabid dogs that they are didn't fucking care and let the death threats fly at 343i who's hands were more than full.

Then you come to Halo 5. The game plays really well but that's about it. The story was literally the worst thing to come out of any Halo material. The game is disturbingly short on content. The Microtransactions ALMOST were not cancer, but the geniuses decided to lock loadout weapons behind req packs, and not even spending a ton of money was a decent way to get them. And then updates have slowly broken the game over time to the point that it may be less stable than Day 1 Master Chief Collection as far as crashing goes.

And that's another thing about Halo 5 that sucks dick. The new trillogy was supposed to be about growing Chief as a charachter, and yet he gets sidelined for a talking exposition dispenser who is actually somehow an even bigger brick personality-wise than Chief was in the original trillogy.

I don't follow much of 343 fan fiction but I thought the Spartan IV program was the ODST replacement.

They only showed the cover of the book. Buck was with a group of Spartans using the same ODST/Mijolnir hybrid armor as himself on some forerunner installation. Buck still has his Fireteam Osiris Insignia on his armor.

ODSTs were not entirely replaced in fact many of the ones that still exist have adopted the old Spartan III's SPI armor from Ghosts of Onyx.

343 Guilty Spark and The Library are, thematically, the best missions in the entire franchise and you cannot under any circumstances prove me wrong.

I don't think Halo has many bad levels thematically outside of Halo 5, but my favorites on that front are probably Guilty Spark for the Flood, and Exodus in Reach and Composer in Halo 4 for doing the best job of capturing the Covenant's brutality.

Majority of these have been in the game since launch, I have never touched H2A or H4 Forge but I assume they're both broken in some degree like H3's is. If even half of these are fixed I will ironically buy the legendary mythic Osiris REQ Pack Collectors Edition of Halo 6.

Long wait time for menu when first playing
Syncing data loops
Guests can no longer play MCC (I haven't seen a guest in matchmaking in months)
Game freezing when loading campaign missions
Game freezing when trying to play co-op
achievements don't properly track (notably the Domination achievement)
Pointless loading matchmaking data messages (you can just cancel the message to stop it)
The game thinking your are offline but are connected (Think it's caused by the low power mode)
Long initial search time when searching matchmaking in a party
If you search in a party and the search restarts, other people in your party will disappear for a few seconds
UI double or triple screening when searching in a party (can happen to multiple people at the same time
UI double screening if you have the roster open and the pre game lobby starts
UI double screening in the service record
Service record not loading stats, everything shows 0
Service record time played counter stops at 596 hours 23 minutes
Blue Juggernaut nameplate is incorrectly coloured
If the pre game lobby restarts searching, the blue nameplates change to a deeper blue colour (doesn't happen to new matches)
Inconsistent vehicle spawns on CE maps (doesn't seem based on gametype on what I initially assumed)
Inconsistent initial spawns on CE and 2 (Coagulation is the worst for this)
The recoil in ODST is far stronger and "jumpier" than 360 ODST

Occasional long wait when trying to leave a game (screen is dim and not responsive)
Players get to the post game lobby (scorecard) sooner than others

Sandbox is not in standard playlists (only Grifball and Action Sack)
CE playlist is 2v2 should be 3v3 or 4v4
Sandtrap (I mean SAND TARP) doesn't have slayer or assault
King of The Hill in Halo 3 BTB isn't BR starts
Halo 2 ranked should always be BR starts
Halo 3 ranked should always be BR starts
Emblems on a per game basis
Armour on per game basis

I played quite a bit of H2A Forge and I never really noticed any issues with it. It's nowhere near as bad and frustrating as H4 forge.

It'd be cool if thwy did post patch H3 and H4 + added in the MKV/ ODST armour from that Halo 4 dlc.

I played quite a bit of H2A Forge and I never really noticed any issues with it. It's nowhere near as bad and frustrating as H4 forge.

Design wise it's certainly WAY better than the disaster Halo 4's and it even improves from Reach as well.

The problems were more on the technical side, crashing, FPS issues and probably even more lighting issues than Halo 4's forge had.
