The more that comes out, the more abundantly clear it is that the writing staff have had had no idea where they were going with since Escalation.
Just look at how they've changed their escusre for Cortana going full Trump in Halo 5 constantly

-In Halo 5 it was " Dae Cortana iz Halsey and Halsey iz monster™ lol, but she's still not evil" (sponsored by Karen Traviss)
-Mythos comes out and implies the Domain fundamentally changed her into what she is now
-Then we get Domain Splinter telling us Cortana was still rampant
-Then 343i retcons part of Halo 4 in a Loot Crate to imply she was evil since then
-And now in another fucking Loot Crate she has the logic plauge.

AND THAT'S JUST CORTANA


Compare that to everything surrounding Halo 4 where all things pointed to the same direction for the series: Learning more about the Forerunners, The reclaimation and the flood coming back.

Bungie guys made the Halo VR mini game that came out recently. Chris Schlerff (Halo 4) is at Bungivision now probably being kept in the same dungeon they held Joe and Marty in.

You forgot the part where they kill off Cortana on the front cover and bring Sgt Jonson back to life as the King of the Flood who murders crippled kids for no reason at all as part of his plan to bring peace to the galaxy (but he isn't evil, the writers said so).

I used to love the Halo lore, but I'm glad that I checked out after the Forerunner book trilogy.

Most of the Extended Universe stuff was alright untill recently. The forerunner trillogy books were good addtions to the lore (even though primordium is probably the most boring book ever written), but the brand new stuff is staring to suck ass.

Engineers have turned into the most ridiculous plot devices in the latest books. They can make forerunner-tier slipspace drives out of nothing and take down entire fucking Guardians now.

I want this nightmare to end.
