What's the purpose of this?

You can't open gift packs and you cant send it to yourself.

So me and my friend managed to make halo 5 fun last night by making a gametype with H2 BR, no spartan abilities (inc. Sprint) and some classic maps to play on.

Does anybody else hate that boost ability which is able to kill people if you're in range of it? For myself I keep forgetting about it(Due to me being used to the real Halo's.) which results in me getting killed and not using it.

I was kinda suprrised that this was a rather common sentiment ammong the community. In the survey I did it's by far the only Spartan ability that people generally dont like.

I remember it being annoying as fuck for me. People would do the charge and then melee me or headshot me.

I'd use the charge and knock the enemy player out of melee range or completely blast them in a random ass direction to which I couldn't orient fast enough to shoot them, giving them the kill instead.

Spartan charge wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't so lopsided in consistent results. The ability itself is somewhat counterable with a quick spraying of bullets and a melee, but due to how random it is, this only works some of the time.

With that hover ground pound attack, that one at least has a counter to it due the the user being in the air for a good amount of time  and you can dodge it. With that charge it's almost an instant attack and there's really no time to dodge due to CQC.

]They need to remove it completely. Getting rewarded for sprinting is probably the single most dumbest design idea ever. Thats why halo will never be a big esport.

Can somebody here tell me what the reason for that post getting flagged for being "non-constructive" is? He is right about comparing it to sprint. All you do is move faster at somebody which results in a kill, there is no skill at all in it.

Then for the esports thing he's right as well. Having features like that charge which takes little to no skill to use is going to turn off the game for competitive play.

Having finished the campaign, here are my thoughts. From a perspective of a guy who knows the lore well. Major spoilers below.

Overall, pretty satisfying. I can see a lot of stuff that will confuse your average fan, but that wasn't a problem for me. Nonetheless, they ought to cover topics like the Mantle more in-depth in the game - a Mass Effect style codex for the major topixs would be welcome.

As for the story itself, certainly a mixed bag. Overall, the plot is a cohesive nareative that makes sense, and there are certainly no characters I dislike bar one (I'll explain in a minute). In particular,Exuberant (The new monitor) and the Warden are very much characters I enjoyed interacting with, their dialogue and voice acting is top notch.

The only major complaint I really have is the reincarnation of cortana. Whilst I certainly enjoyed having her as the antagonist rather than the protagonist (Which was certainly refreshing and unexpected), I dislike the conxept of her return. I was wholeheartedly wanting and expecting her to be the domain using her image to get to John, but nope. Either way, I'm impressed with the route they took regarding her and while it's not how I would have done it, I'm certainly not majorly opposed to it. With a lot of recent media focusing on AI (Such as Saint's Testimony), it's a logical direction to take. And it ties well into the central themes of the Reclaimer Saga.

However, there are some things I'm not too thrilled about, though only the first is anything major.

-Jul being killed off as he was is honestly a waste of a pretty good character. Having seen his character through Glasslands,Thursday War, Spartan Ops and Escalation, it annoys me how he's just sort of killed at the start of the game and that's it.
-Cortana's appearance. Ew.
-Thel deserved more screen time
-The abrupt ending cliffhanger. This is worse than Halo 2's ending, quite frankly. While I'm not doubting it's effect on the plot, it's just a dick move to make us wait until 2018, presuming a three year dev cycle
-the ending is really anticlimactic. It's not like,say Halo 4 where you have a clear 'final battle' kind of feel. You just sort of kill some stuff as normal in the last mission before the final cutscene begins. Very underwhelming.

There are a lot of things I enjoyed about the campaign, but I'm too lazy to write them here. So despite only talking about the negatives, tbis easily goes into my top 3 stories of the series. Right next to Halos 4 and ODST
