So what about Halo 2 and 3 makes it have a better story than CE? With Halo 2 it's unfinished, it leaves details out of the game that should have been explained in game and for a lot of the levels there's no clear objective. For Halo 3 the first half of the game is completely random and there's levels with no clear objective. With CE we have a clear focus from the start and each level isn't random. The levels build into the final objective in the game. It's not like Halo 2 and 3 where there's levels if they were removed the story wouldn't be affected greatly. With CE on the other hand nearly every level has a great impact on the story. The only level that doesn't is the 2nd. For Halo 4 blindly hate it if you must, but each level has a clear focus for it or at least there's a clear focus from the start.

Not really unless you enjoy writing equivalent to that of fan fiction.

If any of the games in the MCC are going to be labeled a fan fiction, it's going to be Halo 3.

The story was pretty generic

Halo's stories have always been generic. It's practically a trademark of the franchise.

and giving MC a "destiny" was pretty cringey

This "destiny" has been in the franchise for quite a while now. This is the first they've outright acknowledged it.

That "romance" has always been there. And if you want to interpret it as romance that's a completely feasible explanation. For me, I see it as a close friendship, and 343i marketed it as a Mother-Son relationship. The truth of the matter is that their relationship can't be pinned down. The only thing that is certain is that they are ridiculously close.

Shit, Cortana literally lives in Chief's head. Without her, he describes it as his mind feeling empty.

Textures are no longer compressed. Detail on the foliage is more pronounced. Most noticeably the veins on the plants and leaves.

Looks like that whole "crushed blacks" thing is back. Apart from the game being darker, the details are more pronounced on the X1 and they look good.
