>not siding with the morally superior Mr House

Daily reminder this guy:

>became a business tycoon at the age of 22
>accurately predicted the prospect of nuclear Armageddon
>pretty much saved the entirety of Las Vegas from the bombs
>rendered himself essentially immortal
>brought order and civility to the Hoover Dam, whereas the NCR would've just turned it into a bureaucratic statist shithole, and the Legion would've well, turned it into just a shithole

Literally the only logical option.

The angel agreed to trade a set of white wings for the head of another demon. Overjoyed, the demon killed one of his own and plucked the head right off its still-warm body.

The angel then led the demon to heaven, where he underwent centuries of the cruelest tortures imaginable. Finally, the pain was so great that he lost consciousness - at which point his dark wings turned the promised shade of white.
But none of them matter in the end

His eyebrows sparkling, his white beard hangs down to his chest. The thatched mats, spread outside his chise, spread softly, his splendid attos. He polishes, cross-legged, his makiri, with his eyes completely absorbed.

He is Ainu.

The god of Ainu Mosir, Ae-Oine Kamuy, descendant of Okiku-Rumi, He perishes, a living corpse. The summers day, the white sunlight, unabrushed, ends simply through his breath alone.
>Not siding for an independent New Vegas

House is tactical and efficient, but he literally recreated the mafia to run the strip and allows Freeside to squander in poverty. The only reason he even sends a Securitron out to Goodsprings after the game is to keep an eye on them.

In a way. NCR is going to start falling apart at any minute from over-expansion. The Legion will lose direction after Caesar dies. House can last indefinitely, but that's assuming his plan to land on a heavenly body in the next 100 years works; otherwise, he'll end up stagnating too. Independent New Vegas can last as long as you can hold it.

At least with the Legion you get some semblance of hierarchical order, despite them being the shittiest faction to choose.

Pls, my 10 Int 10 Cha Courier will easily run New Vegas free of social destruction. Courier doesn't necessarily run New Vegas, but if he tells somebody to do something they should probably do it if they know what's good for them.

Lesser of the four evils mang.

NCR? Incompetent lefties hell bent on returning New Vegas to pre war civility without a lick of common sense on how to achieve it.

Legion? Pretty self explanatory.

Independent? Massive power gap susceptible to anyone with a penchant for greed and violence. Which pretty much means 99% of the population in this universe.

Wouldn't independence leave NV with a massive power gap when the courier kicks the bucket? At least with House you get a decent chance of a civilised Vegas for longer than a couple decades.

Besides, who would the Courier delegate responsibilities to?

How long the Courier has is dependent on how old you make him, and the NCR/Legion both have similar/the same problem. House and Independence are the only two real options for sustaining the Strip. The difference is that House is, while an economic genius, also possibly psychotic and too narrow viewed for the Wasteland. He's still stuck in the Old World. Because of that, if his ship plan doesn't work, it will be obvious that he can't truly grasp the situation anymore.

Independent New Vegas, I assume, would have another strong person take over the Courier's role as a protector and advisor. On delegation of responsibility, that would probably depend on the player's Karma.

Memes aside, I agree relegating all the power to House isn't exactly the most ideal scenario, but in comparison to the other options it's a choice between shit and less shit. With the Courier you get a relatively stable region in the short run, whereas with House you get a morally questionable absolutist state, but at the same time probably the most economically viable and civil prospect for NV in the long run.

Plus I don't consider Karma and gameplay factors to have a role in this, canonically speaking.

For any ending other than Yes Man, I'd agree. But considering that the fate of New Vegas lies with the kind of person the Courier is in Independence, the Courier's Karma definitely matters. Hell, in the bad karma ending for House, Mr. House let's the Courier do whatever he wants because he's afraid of him.

But this is all predicated on the basis of the player's choice, not the objectivity aspect of the lore.

Independent NV just seems a bit of a long shot tbh, with everything depending on the personality of one person, which could either be really good or really bad. At least you know where you stand with House.

I literally just said that it lasts as long as you can hold it. And

>Getting overrun
>Securitron Army

That army singlehandedly deterred the NCR from even attempting to fight you at the dam. And that's when it first arrived, not once they've fortified the area.

You mean siding with House? He's the only one who actually has no option to side with the Brotherhood (apart from I assume the Legion, who are just shit).

Anywho, I've always had a bad feeling about Mr House. He virtually ruled pre-war America what with his technology industry so I'm surprised he didn't join up with the Enclave when it decided to go like Poseidon Energy and other undisclosed parties (...or perhaps he did and distanced himself, I dunno). Now that he survived the Great War, he wants to rule post-war America too, although in the short term he's only concerned with New Vegas and the surrounding area.

That just screams hidden evil at me.

On my current character I'm NCR because I like all the military stuff.

I made myself look like Big Boss who has somehow ended up in the Mojave, so he sides with the NCR to built up rep and get supplies and arm himself.  I'd like to think that after he helps them out he takes over and does a better job.

I play NCR or Indy sheerly because you don't have to blow up the Brotherhood. Call me a dick, but I actually like the classic Brotherhood/ FO3 Outcasts and can never bear to bring myself to kill them.

Besides, surely having the Brotherhood, Boomers and a massive army of Securitrons, plus whatever you find in Big MT and Sierra Madre and the Strip Families on your side would be able to keep order pretty well.

I mean, my FNV headcanon dictates that the Courier, with the Brotherhood's knowledge at their side, is able to unlock the technologies and weaponry of the Divide, BMT and Madre to basically create a post-war superpower able to rival the Legion or NCR. Complete with a whole dozen silos worth of nuclear weapons and invincible holo-soldiers. In doing this, the Vegas nation slowly grows bigger and bigger, in a shaky NATO-esque alliance with NCR and an active war with Legion.

Speaking of BoS outcasts, I really think that Fallout 3's main quest should have focused on the Brotherhood civil war instead of the Enclave.

I mean, it could be pretty much as it was up until the bit where you've found Qui-Gon and then shift to the civil war.

Kind of like how the Imperial-stormcloak thing is way more interesting than the dragons in Skyrim.

Well, House was only active in the years since the first NCR scouts arrived. I think it's implied he was in some kind of stasis in the intervening 200 years. Because organising the Families, sending out the Securitrons, sealing off the Strip from Outer Vegas and so forth only occurred around te time the NCR got to the Mojave.

If you talk with house, he says his systems went into "safe mode" essentially putting him into a coma after his defence system ran overtime without the platinum chip when the bombs fell.

At best, he's a diplomatic mob-boss. At worst, he's an opportunistic self serving strategist, making sure he comes out on top.
