FIFA, until the next one comes out that is.

Fuckin pacebabbies ruin it for me.
FIFA 16 pacebabbies can't do anything. It's so damn hard to change my style of play because you actually have to value possession now instead of just doing what you did since forever.
It's fucking great isn't it?
It is, but I'm really having growing pains.
It's okay bbe, you'll adjust soon enough. And then you'll be worthy to receive my through ball.

Difficulty and length are kinda silly reasons to dislike a game, but all right.
Not really

Need I remind you of the Library and how long that crap dragged on?
Well, that had more to do with the repetitious scenery and combat, more than anything else. The length was fine--the variety in scenery wasn't. I dunno, it's hard for me to really contrive a scenario where length would actually be a problem in and of itself.

You can do everything offline that you can online minus invading and reading people's notes. You can be human off and online. You just start out undead.
What's the point, then?

I feel games, like movies/books, can really drag on. Like in order to get to the final place you need to grind for so and so and other random crap I can't think of.

Online co-op/invading really. It's a single player game at heart, with co-op/invasions added after. I feel when you're online and see messages (most of them are helpful believe it or not. At least the first few months when people are learning. It's a huge social experiment really) and phantoms of players passing/blood pools, it makes me feel like you're all collectively struggling/working together for that common goal. It's like... team work, but at the time time not.

You see someone die and click their blood and see it, and you see they ran ahead and were ambushed, or you walk to a door and a note says (be wary of ambush), and you know this guy found out the hard way, or is passing the word. It does this VERY subtle thing where players actually transparently pull each other along.

And then, like I said with social experiments, you get the few who try and dissuade you. You may not like it (and I can understand why, though offline NONE of this factors in, so at least consider it!) but I feel it's a very very subtle but cool thing. You know you're alone, but at the same time you're not.

Sorry for that rant.

Difficulty due to poor design (The Library) is a valid reason. A difficulty that was intentional and designed properly isn't.

I agree. I was mainly going on about how long that level was and how it almost (not kidding) put me to sleep

I feel you, but still, I think a lot of what makes stuff "drag on" has more to do with a lack of variety than it does length. The Godfather is of monstrous length, but the story is so brilliant and compelling that you don't even realize it. It has that variety. The Library didn't have that variety.

Now, you could argue that the sailing sections in Wind Waker lacked variety--and I would agree to an extent, depending on what you might want to see in the game. Apart from the islands themselves, there's not a whole lot else to see in the Great Sea. There's pirate watchtowers dotted everywhere, big barrel-shaped submarines... um, seagulls... That's it. In terms of enemy variety, we have octoroks, gyorgs, and seahats. Oh, and every once in awhile, there's a big octo.

So yeah, not a whole lot in terms of variety. However, I still maintain that the nuances make the sailing segments what they are. At least, for me. The music is gorgeous, and I love watching the sky slowly get darker at night as I head to my next cool destination. I've never really felt such a sense of wonder about any other game before.

That's all just personal emotional shit, though--objectively, I dunno, I suppose there's an argument to be made about the sailing segments being a little tedious. But I still love them, and wouldn't have it any other way. Fuck the speed sail.

it's okay lol

i just gave you a rant for rant, so i guess we're even

That's all well and good, I suppose. I don't have much to say to that, considering I still need to give it another shot some time. Fallout 3's gonna keep me busy for awhile, though.

A lot of multiplayer shooters are extremely enjoyable for the first week or two, because the majority of the population at that time is really bad at the game, so a lot of the game's problems haven't surfaced or been made overwhelmingly apparent.

hey
I actually have to agree with Verb on the length thing, it's not so much the length of a game, but rather the amount of content or variety within that game length

If it's 20-30 hours of the same stuff, then that's going to be a real drag, but if it's 20-30 hours that keeps spicing up gameplay and changing things up to keep it fresh, interesting, then the length doesn't matter much

But I guess in the end -- Sort of feels like everyday its harder to stay happy where you are. There are all these ways to look through the fence into your neighbor's yard.

Why even risk it? its safer to stay distant.
