1. Dialogue wheel thingy is shit. (1) Hopefully modders get on that ASAP.
2. The idea of a voiced PC didn't bother me too much until I realized that it'll make every dialogue exchange slow as shit (if you want to listen to all of the voice acting). Hopefully there's an option for a silent protagonist. If not, then, again, hopefully it'll be addressed by modders.
3. Crafting system is cool, although I feel like it'll make it even easier to become OP before you're level 10.
4. Having NPCs say your name is pretty neat. Maybe there'll be an option for you to choose a name to be voiced but you'll be able to name your character whatever you want. Ex: My name is Brendon but I guarantee you the closest voiced name to that will be "Brendan", so hopefully I can set it to where NPCs will say "Brendan" but my text name will be "Brendon".
5. Becoming attached to a companion early in the game will probably mean that it suffers a horrible fate later on. Wish there was an option for a kitty cat companion. :3
6. Lighting looks much better than previous games, and it looks like they've ditched the ugly filters that they had in Fallout 3 and NV.
7. Texture quality is meh, although it looks like some of the models are actually 1024x1024.
8. VATS is pretty interesting. It looks like instead of pausing the game it slows down time (like a combination of VATS and the bullet time mod for FO3 and NV). Also looks like it goes back to real-time between shots to allow for NPCs to react. I was wary at first but I think that this will balance gameply out much more and won't allow you to take out eight raiders within the span of five seconds.
9. Pre-War start is cool. Although I prefer the "blank slate" starts of previous games. Having a wife and a kid won't fit into many role-playing setups.
10. Build-your-own base mechanic is neat. Obviously based off of the Wasteland Defense mod for FO3 and NV. Seems kinda weird that you can just scrap an entire house all at once. I also imagine that, like Hearthfire, the bases will be far away from anything worth seeing and will probably not be worth bothering with until modders get their hands on it and make some improvements.
11. Being the sole survivor of a Vault which I assume tests cryogenic freezing feels a bit contrived.
12. The power armor reminds me of the power armor from MechAssault 2. Doesn't look like it would fit in small doorways/passages. The customization is cool, though.
13. Brotherhood of Steel seems to play a large part in the game. I'm guessing there's a BoS-Institute conflict going on.
14. The way that Deathclaw grabbed the PC makes me think that there will be scripted kill shots for when you're killed. Looks like fun.
15. Pulling up your Pip-Boy doesn't pause the game now. That might actually make that gimmicky Pip-Boy app useful. Ex: Have the app pulled up to the status screen and apply stimpacks in real-time while you fight. Could also make it more fun when you have friends over. You could have one of them manage your inventory or something along those lines while you play. Will have to get my hands on the app and game before I can say for sure, of course.
Overall I'm optimistic about this entry in the series, despite Bethesda gutting their titles before release. Not looking forward to the no doubt hundreds of bugs that will be present day one, but hopefully most can be fixed with console commands.
