I'm at 85 dwellers, an upgraded and staffed radio room, and several explorers coming and going. So I've been getting 5-6 deathclaw attacks per day, almost always when I get a new dweller from the radio. Many of these are nearly back to back, taking place within 10 minutes of each other because people are coming or going. They only get through my second floor and rarely kill anyone, but it just seems excessive at this point. They're really disruptive and the UI is garbage for handling real time incidents.

Anyone else getting annoyed by these? Is there any way to decrease their rate of occurrence besides shutting down my radio room?

I'm yet to go beyond 30 dwellers

Like, I will be doing fine then within the space of ten minutes, all my food or water runs out and my dweller happiness begins to tank

So I am yet to experience deathclaws

So I am now conducting my own vault experiments. My current one is to make the vault population all pregnant women and children (Who can't die) that man the stims, radaway and power rooms, while all the men are exploring or stood outside the vault waiting to make the women pregnant again.

Trying getting a 2:1 supply/demand ratio. The bar for each resource shouldn't be further than halfway.

It never is. It's just that whenever I can 'harvest' a new lot of food or whatever, it barely take sit out of the red, which in turn creates a self-sustaining thing where the happiness plunges and it takes longer to get resources.

IT probably doesn;t help I rarely have more than about three people with any stats above, like ,1.

I don't remember what population is required for training rooms, but it's pretty safe to pull people out of resource rooms to train them up overnight. Happiness will drop, but it'll come back when you put them back in. I generally train at night and put them back in rooms during the day.

Hadn't considered that.

I'm usually scared to pull anyone out of resource management, lest the levels tank while I'm away.

This game's pretty smart. It shuts down resource use after maybe 10 minutes away, but timed things like training and exploration keep going. So you'll stop using resources but train all night. It's pretty safe, and either way your dwellers aren't going to die from starvation or thirst.

Hmm. Thanks for the tip.

I have basically been unable to get past the opening stages of the game without tanking. Hard.

I'll try this and let you know how it goes ^ ^

I generally only log in every 12 hours or so to check on things, I found that being logged in and afk-playing it just ended horribly when I forgot to click something every 30 seconds or so.

Like, 20 people in the vault died because I was replying to a message on here.

So yeah, not playing it is working out best >_>

I'm going to make Vault 101 - no one ever enters. And no one ever leaves.

Well, I'll allow my lunchbox characters in.

But otherwise, it's my new experiment.

That's actually a good way to avoid deathclaws. No radio and no opening the vault = no attacks. And later in the game exploring really doesn't yield too much.

I've already been raided. But as previously stated, I have an alien gun and a gauss rifle so raiders don't stand much of a chance.

You will find out who you are not a thousand times, before you ever discover who you are. I hope you find peace in yourself and learn to love instead of hate.
Yeah on loading your vault one of the hints i read says opening your vault and using a radio room greatly increases the chance of raider attacks.

I think my previous sudden depression may have been to do with kids. Like, having more than two of the buggers at a time seems to put too much drain on resources.

So if I'm right now by carefully managing how many kids there are so I get new dwellers at a steady rate, I should be fine.

i dunno if my game is glitched or something but with 49 dwellers and 4 rooms of each resources my vault is functioning pretty well.
one double water station produces 22 and the other produces 20
both my diners produce 22 and for my power generators one is maxed out whilst the other produces 25

i've had this layout since 25 dwellers or so and even when my dwellers have children the line that indicators the needs of my dwellers has remained where it is

Moms spaghetti
I had maxed stats people and they can't stop deathclaws. I'm just happy I didn't need to build up my vault with the threat of deathclaws cause my decently upgraded vault of ~130 needs an entire floor to clear em
