It's obvious that FORanimated was made for people who haven't read the book, as opposed to the hardcore fans.

Hold up, now that the story of Halo 5 took an entire different turn...does that mean that Hunt The Truth is shit now? I don't mean in quality but in a canonical way.

Did it do something in the second part? I stopped listening.

It is still canon and I would consider that the original direction they were going in before things changed. I think they realized if they committed to the Hunt the Truth like sections they would alienate a large portion of their fanbase. Hunt the Truth is one of the better things in the modern day era that 343 has done. Along with Hunters in the Dark and Hunt the Truth the setup for Guardians was great but 343 shat the bed in regards to Guardian's story.

htt was great, but yes, pretty much its shit in canon. nothing to do with the chief even going rogue or anything
Wait, uh... could someone explain to me what happened to it, exactly?

Spoiler
I thought HTT was kind of the non-ONI perspective--and saying that Master Chief died was to hide the fact that apparently he was activating the Guardians and causing all that death and destruction. ONI knows better, but if you're just an outsider, you'd think he's become a terrorist. That'd be like hearing Walter Cronkite defected to North Korea.

HTT is fully canon. Just that The Cost/ All Hail isn't.

I have no idea where people are getting the idea that the events that transpired in the audio series are non-canon.

I think 343 is going through a Kilo-5/Initiation phase again.

Try connecting the dots for Halo Reach and Fall of Reach, look at each date and time then you will realize that Halo Reach does fit the story with The Fall of Reach.

It literally didn't, though.

It was only after 343 released newer stuff like the Data Drops that Halo Reach and TFoR were able to coexist without contradicting each other.
