Against my better judgement I went ahead and preordered the game because I'm a sucker for steelbooks and art books. From what I've been seeing I still don't know how to feel about everything. I never really liked Midgar in the original FFVII and was happy to leave it when I did, but everything I see in the trailers does look fun and enjoyable.

However I also saw a part of the ending and from what people who have the game already are saying, they're adding more of the expanded universe stuff into the game, like they want to reimagine the game now that they can. I don't mind the expanded story of VII but Cloud is definitely weak in comparison to his original release self.

Anyways, what is everyone's thoughts on the VII Remake?

i hate that the word "remake" is actually in the title of the thing, that's so fucking tacky

it looks nice, but my autism prevents me from playing it before beating 1-6 and the original 7 first

it's insane to me how it's only going to cover a small portion of the first disc

The angel agreed to trade a set of white wings for the head of another demon. Overjoyed, the demon killed one of his own and plucked the head right off its still-warm body.

The angel then led the demon to heaven, where he underwent centuries of the cruelest tortures imaginable. Finally, the pain was so great that he lost consciousness - at which point his dark wings turned the promised shade of white.

Better get cracking then, II is shit, IV is great, V is good, and VI is overrated.

Also yeah, that's one of my biggest gripes, I wish it ended where Disc 1 ends.
