I'd take 9 over 8.. I couldn't get into it.. 7 and 9 were the best! : D..

I'm still super confused by Final Fantasy. Like, sometimes it's pure fantasy with magic and steampunk medieval stuff, and other times it's science fantasy set in the future with guns and motorcycles, but still swords and body armor. And there are like 6 different sets of stories that don't cross paths at all.

I need a CliffsNotes version of the series.

None of the games are connected (with a few exceptions), and each game takes place in an entirely different world, technological period, etc.

The game was initially called "Final Fantasy" because Square was failing financially and believed it would be the last game they made. Then it turned out to be a huge success, and the name carried over from that for brand recognition.

And yes, there are a lot of items, enemies, names, etc, that carry over from one game to the next. The most famous is probably their naming of the magic spells (Cure, Cura, Curaga / Fire, Fira, Firaga / Thunder, Thundara, Thundaga), but it means nothing plot-wise. It's just recurring elements. Many, many people have tried to link the games together with that as evidence, but ultimately, they all take place in separate universes. Like I said, there are some exceptions, like the connection between FFX and FFVII, but they're few and far apart.

I'm not sure about Xbox however, maybe Sony has struck a deal we don't know about? I'm not sure, best to wait and see.

Yeah the cutscenes look nice but then the in game grpahics don't look too great

The tears, they are delicious. Seriously though, Final Fantasy 7 to me is the same as thee core feeling Halo had. Its just that legendary to me and holds a special place in my childhood, nostalgic heart.

Its just so fucking boring and bland compared to the rest. I mean i would still play it, but it doesnt hold up to the rest of the games.
