I personally think Halo 2's was the most I interesting. Aside from the ending, it's pretty spectacular. And I haven't even got the chance to beat it.

I always found CE's story to be, well, boring. And this is coming from someone who started with CE.

3 is a joke.

4's is a close second but lacks length. Plus, someone spoiled the ending for me a week prior to the game's release. So it wasn't all that emotional. The best part of the game was when John tells Del Rio to fuck off.

Halo 2 still holds up, and it ended up diminishing Halo 3 for me.

Halo 2 was incredible, but Halo 3 is incredibly disappointing.

You can't beat the original that introduces you to a universe. CE in a lot of ways reminds me of A New Hope. But Halo 2 is a lot like the Empire Strikes Back. In terms of a galaxy-spanning space opera, Halo 2 wins. There's so much to it. There's so many parallels you can draw from the story. Like the beginning. We see Chief being awarded medals for his heroism, while at the same time we see the Arbiter stripped of his armor and rank. Despite the ending, Halo 2 was the pinnacle of Bungie's story telling.

ODST is an artistic masterpiece.

I also kinda agree with Sprungli on CE as well. I'm sure it was groundbreaking at the time, but it just doesn't hold up technologically in comparison to today's standards. The level design is awful and it feels like an absolute chore to grind through.

Halo 2, with CE right behind it.

I enjoyed Halo 2 the most because it introduced so many new things. You learn so much more about The Covenant than ever before and find out that not all of them are truly evil but were being lied to and manipulated all this time by the Prophets. We also get to play as Arbiter and see things from the Covenant's point of view which I thought was executed perfectly. This is where you see things begin to twist in the Covenant's leadership. This is why Uprising is one of my favorite levels of all time because there's really no objective in that level, its just you as Arbiter leading a crusade with the Elites against the Brutes.
