However, as we approached our final deadlines, we realized that some key moments needed extra polish to bring them up to our standards. I have had to make the tough choice to delay the game for a few weeks to allow us to deliver something special.
I'm wondering if those key moments are really the reason why for the delay. To me it seems strange that the developers found out that those key moments needed more time not months ago, but withing three weeks of release. I'm thinking Sony told them to come up with a delay just to increase the hype and pre-orders. I know it sounds stupid but like I said you would think those key moments due to how important they are would be noticed months ago.

You will find out who you are not a thousand times, before you ever discover who you are. I hope you find peace in yourself and learn to love instead of hate.
No mans sky is pretty hyped up already though

If Sony told them to delay they would have pushed it back to Christmas season imo

Maybe they made those "moments" (I'm assuming this is stuff at the start of the game and when you're nearing the center) before anyone have a shit about their game and now it's super hyped and they don't want to dissapoint?

when you're nearing the center
Not including exploration, due to the size of the game it would take you hundreds of hours to get to it. If the game came out on June 21 the developers would have already fixed the center by the time players reached it.

Better to wait for a polished game than a rushed one. A game that comes out broken will forever be remembered for being broken, regardless of what fixes they do for it.

Rome 2, MCC, and Battlefield 4 are all perfect examples.

Rome 2 probably being the biggest sinner of them all since they quite literally lied to their die hard fans. Almost has a Colonial Marines feel to it.

Goodness gracious, great balls of lightning!
Be honest though, is anyone actually hyping this game up other than IGN? Cause I hardly see anyone talk about it around the internet.

Always better to delay than to rush.

Pretty excited nonetheless.

Nah. I just have a mild interest in it. If the reviews are favorable, I could see it as a game I'd get to just kick back and relax with. Gives me a Minecraft vibe where I just know I can relax and do my own thing without serious competition or face paced stuff.

Although it entirely depends on the play style estimated travel time to the center is about 50 - 100 hours depending on the route you take.
50 is for the people gunning for it off the bat and 100 is the higher end for players taking their time.

Exactly how I feel about it

I'd say it leads to a more polished game though. Better for that than pointless glitches and issues.

not really, there are a lot of delayed games that were still shit

DNF being a high profile one

Hardline was also delayed, didn't stop the balance from being terrible and the gameplay modes from being poorly thought out.

I don't think anyone is saying it'll be a better game because of being delayed. Just that it's always better to delay and fix rather than shove out whatever they have because of a deadline.

I'm not saying delaying fixes all of that. Just that it will have a better chance to perform better, rather than be shit. Especially since this isn't from the biggest of publishers. EA has a nasty habit of.... well, they just have shit games in general.

Animosity lets people say those kinds of things without backlash.
