PC Gamer confirms that "Halo 6" is indeed in development right now and 343 Industries does have plans to keep the franchise going for another decade or two. The game is also rumored to start yet another trilogy in the series, meaning "Halo 7" to "Halo 9" will see the main hero, the Master Chief, dealing with a new set of enemies than before.

I'm happy that they never made another Halo game after Halo 3. The series ended pretty good with that game.

With the way they're handling the franchise I'd be surprised if it ever gets that far.

Now the question is will the franchise itself last that long due to the way 343 is handling it. Not only did Halo 5 have one massive false advertising campaign, but they also released the game with about as much content as what Halo CE did. A few more Halo 5 level failures and the franchise i done with. I don't see too many people staying on this sinking ship unless Microsoft replaces 343 or 343 gets their shit together.

Also I don't see Halo lasting long unless 343 stops basing the games after Halo CE. So far every Halo game with the excepting of Wars is molded after CE when it comes to level design. Despite the 360 being stronger and the Xbone being ar stronger than the Xbox, we still have no large open areas, no large scale battles, no areas set up for simply exploration or even being able to make choices which affects the story. When it comes to certain things Halo is a very stagnate series.

It's more a question of if 343 will get to carry on with Halo, at least the current team. Considering how poorly all 343's releases have performed, it wouldn't surprise me if Microsoft started outsourcing Halo, or at the very least fire some people. I heard that shake-ups in the team have been happening since Halo 5's release, no idea how true that is though.

I uninstalled Halo 5: Guardians.

Its pretty obvious that for me to really even care about a new Halo game is almost non-existent at this point. The only thing I can see myself getting is Halo 3: Anniversary if anything.
