well in the beta it automatically put you in third person when you got the hero pick-up.

I don't think you could switch to first person.

I don't understand why people get upset about season passes. They've been status quo in triple-A games for years now, but we act like it's a huge offense to offer it. If you don't want to pay more for a game than you did more than ten years ago, companies need to start ensuring a return on investment in other ways.

I'd rather just pay for what the game is worth.

If Battlefront has enough quality content to justify a $110 price point, I would gladly pay that much for it. (Actually I probably wouldn't because I'm not the biggest fan of Star Wars but whatever, I'm making a point.)

The insulting thing, to me, is that this content is likely done and overpriced.

Is it too much to ask for some common fucking decency between publishers and consumers?

Well gamers just won't buy a game whose base model is more than $60. It's a historical trend.

But when a major multiplayer game comes out, with the business model of staying competitive and popular for several years (like Halo or CoD), then episodic DLC is mandatory and of course they're going to be planning and developing it far in advance. It just doesn't make sense for anyone to continue to feign shock when these companies announce season passes.

No one was shocked, though. I'll admit, the price point did surprise me -- but I'm not well-versed in the status quo for a SP price-point. That's why I made the thread, because I was shocked they priced it at $50.

The only Season pass I've ever considered buying is the one for the Witcher 3, and that's actually because I wanted to support to the devs for a game I really love

I've just decided to buy the first DLC for now though >.>

It's not downloading for some reason though ;_____;

There's two paid expansions they're releasing, one just came out like yesterday, and I dunno when the second one's coming out

His eyebrows sparkling, his white beard hangs down to his chest. The thatched mats, spread outside his chise, spread softly, his splendid attos. He polishes, cross-legged, his makiri, with his eyes completely absorbed.

He is Ainu.

DLC is free, expansions aren't.

Just because a bad thing has been happening for years doesn't make it any less bad.

Just because a bad thing has been happening for years doesn't make it any less bad.

That depends on what you consider bad. You can always wait until all of the DLC for the pass is out before deciding if you want to buy it all at once with a discount or just pick and choose which ones you like the most.

Some people really like the games they play and know they're going to buy all the DLC anyway so buying a season pass before all of the DLC is out is a no brainier for them.

As long as the consumer is fully aware of what they're getting with their purchase they're not being taken advantage of. If the information about what the consumers purchase contains is both freely and easily obtainable and the consumer chooses not to inform themselves before buying then it isn't the fault of the publisher.

If you're referring to the practice of selling DLC (along with other things like microtransactions and the flooding of cheap cosmetic DLC) in general, well that's just a necessity of the current market due to the price of games going down and the demands of consumers going up. The $60 price point is not sustainable for most AAA devs without some form of alternative revenue. By the same token though not every game deserves to be $60, however this entire section of my post would be better suited in a different topic and discussion entirely.

Yeah that's a good point. If you take inflation into account, games are cheaper than they've ever been.

Something that occurred to me this morning, isn't the first DLC free for everyone anyway?
Jakku something, or is it just a preorder bonus?

Pre-order just gets early access to it.

It'll be free to everyone on December 8th.

Right so EA could have just stuck that in the season pass and said nut up or shut up, and yet they give it out for free and people still whine about them being greedy.

That's your 'cut content' right there, the rest will be being made post launch.

I get that EA is unpopular but people could at least cut them some slack for the good things they do rather than just shitting all over them like they are the worst company in America.

Meh. I fail to see how this is different to battlefield.

And all five BF4 DLCs have been fantastic.

Uhh. No.

Shitty practices should be criticised regardless of how many good practices are present. It's the only way we'll get Real Changetm.

Can't help but feel that you're slightly biased, Psy.

I wish all companies just took the route Halo 5 is using, as in making all the DLC maps free.

Uhh. Yes.

Good practices should be commended regardless of how many bad practices are present. It's the only way to reinforce positive change.

And of course I'm biased, what part of paid to shill for EA doesn't stand out as biased?

Facetiousness aside, do you think that any major company/publisher/business online is even remotely receptive to whining anymore?

They care about two things:

1) Profit margins
2) Positive Feedback

#1 Speaks for itself
#2 If you are confronted with a thousand posts by random users bitching about anything and everything are you inclined to actually read that?
Say you go to skim it for giggles and in the mix of those thousand posts you see one that isn't just crying and is saying 'good job on XYZ, really enjoying it yadayadayada'
After the end of reading/skimming those thousand posts, which one is going to stick out in your memory?
The positive one or the nine hundred and ninety nine shitposts?

Whining at EA won't make a blind bit of difference at this point, they are trying to improve some of their practices and people could at least give them credit for it.

Don't buy the stuff you don't like, let them know what you do.

Or if it's not metal gear enough, then why bother complaining about a company you don't care for at all?

well, because other people care for it, and that's a problem, because the more people support them, the higher the precedent is set--so whether or not you like the company, or the games it develops, shouldn't be a factor if we're making some kind of ethical argument

rest of your post was good though
