Reviews in general can influence my purchase if they're balanced, well-written, and/or from an author whose opinions I either respect or tend to share on a reasonably frequent basis. The same would apply to a Steam review.

4 out of 5 times, though, the trailer, some gameplay footage, or even the premise is enough for me to decide. I'm the kind of guy who usually reads the reviews after I've already played the game myself.

'Overwhelmingly positive' or 'negative' might reinforce a decision to buy or skip a game, but I don't think I've ever used them as a sole source of input.

its worth reading the bad ones for any consistencies in long-standing bugs and such

either way steam reviews are always worth checking out imo

sometimes the type of game that isnt for another person is the kind of game for me, reviews that are negative sometimes describe a game that won't appeal to that person, and sometimes they would even say it's not for them

If I'm on the fence about something, then yeah I could say they do (though I look at other review vids as well. Did that with Stardew Valley). And usually when a game is "overwhelmingly positive" on steam, it's actually a very good game and something to consider trying.

You will find out who you are not a thousand times, before you ever discover who you are. I hope you find peace in yourself and learn to love instead of hate.
Yes, I find reviews, the 'recent reviews' at least are helpful in regard to performance. I was going to buy Just Cause 3 in the steam sale but after going through the reviews it turns out the game is apparently enjoyable but also very buggy and crashes frequently. Kupo bought it and confirmed the claims too

The only reviews that interest me are about a games performance. If the reviews say it's a shit port then I'll avoid it.

Sometimes if I know nothing about what I'm going into.  But I try not to overall, because it'll just sour something I wouldn't have focused on otherwise.

Half of the performance issue ones are written by AMD bottom-feeders, and don't apply.

Goodness gracious, great balls of lightning!
I just read them for what hilarious things people wrote, like the ones for Earth Defense Force 4.1: The Shadow of New Despair

Don't think I've seen a negative review for that game yet

His eyebrows sparkling, his white beard hangs down to his chest. The thatched mats, spread outside his chise, spread softly, his splendid attos. He polishes, cross-legged, his makiri, with his eyes completely absorbed.

He is Ainu.

The god of Ainu Mosir, Ae-Oine Kamuy, descendant of Okiku-Rumi, He perishes, a living corpse. The summers day, the white sunlight, unabrushed, ends simply through his breath alone.
Overwhelmingly negative reviews will make me research a game a bit harder, but if I'm buying a game then generally I don't give a shit about shills or nills.

Almost always, with moderation
I look into the game, if I'm on the fence I might ask someone who has played and can tell me more than just gameplay footage and articles can.

If I'm not here, I'm doing photography. Or I'm asleep. Or in lockdown. One of those three, anyway.

The current titlebar/avatar setup is just normal.
Only for games I'm 50-50 on.

Normally I'm already set on whether I want a game or not, but the reviews can highlight small problems to be aware of.

E.g. Fallout 3;
"Negative - The graphics are bad". Irrelevant.

"Postive - (long winded review)...but alt-tabbing doesn't work, so don't multitask". That stuff would be useful to know.

oh sweet jesus that was a pain, i remember constantly losing progress due to me forgetting for a second that alt tabbing would crash the game

Long live NoNolesNeckin.

Ya fuckin' ganderneck.
I really don't pay attention to them. I usually look into a game I'm interested in on youtube.
