So after years of waiting, letdowns and er... a reboot, it was finally announced at E3, and the world rejoiced. I know there's only like 3 DMC fans here, but I wanted to make a thread anyway because I'm pretty damn excited.

So anyone else hyped as hell? I've been replaying 4 recently and I fucking suck at it. It's weird because I got pretty good at 3, but Nero just feels so weird to play.

Yeah I'm looking forward to it. Glad Nero's still around after the lukewarm reception he got in 4.

How do you feel about the music direction?

I really like Devil Trigger, it feels upbeat and modern, fitting for Nero's theme. I imagine Dante's music will be heavier, I hope for  a new rendition of Devils Never Cry.

His eyebrows sparkling, his white beard hangs down to his chest. The thatched mats, spread outside his chise, spread softly, his splendid attos. He polishes, cross-legged, his makiri, with his eyes completely absorbed.

He is Ainu.

The god of Ainu Mosir, Ae-Oine Kamuy, descendant of Okiku-Rumi, He perishes, a living corpse. The summers day, the white sunlight, unabrushed, ends simply through his breath alone.
I recently snagged the DMC HD Collection + 4SE on PS4. I forgot how much I hated Nightmare.

Nelo Angelo 3 is the peak of the game tbh. Every other boss/miniboss is just annoying and spammy/protected from melee attacks.

EDIT: I actually forgot about Phantom. He's not annoying or anything, just really really easy.

Yup. Griffin has that annoying electric bird thing and a cluttered arena, Phantom is alright, Mundus had some interested mechanics and Nightmare was just... ugh

I actually didn't mind Griffin 1 or 3 (despite it being annoyingly spammy). Hated the pirate ship fight because, despite being in DT, Dante wanted to throw Magma Drives instead of Meteors. Also that one move that attaches the shadow bird to you and changes the lock on away from Griffin. Made the fight really frustrating.

The pirate ship fight is the worst. I just cheese it with DT'd Ebony and Ivory, works a charm

I try to avoid using my guns if I can since it interrupts the combo chain and reduces the amount of orbs you get from drops. This doesn't mean anything for bosses, of course, but it's still led me to the habit of using Air Raid instead if possible.

Devil Trigger is hype af. And if there's anything to go on, the rock music that plays during Dante's bike scene at the end of the trailer is probably a snippet of his theme. It's all good.

The angel agreed to trade a set of white wings for the head of another demon. Overjoyed, the demon killed one of his own and plucked the head right off its still-warm body.

The angel then led the demon to heaven, where he underwent centuries of the cruelest tortures imaginable. Finally, the pain was so great that he lost consciousness - at which point his dark wings turned the promised shade of white.
Well i say im a DMC fan yet ive only played the reboot. I know id like them except maybe 2? Whatever the deal with that is.

DMC was so successful that Capcom turned an unrelated game into DMC2. Itsuno (mastermind behind DMC3) was brought in 6 months before release to salvage it, but most of the damage had already been done. Dante's emotionless, the levels are too big, melee attacks have too much knockback (making it hard to combo), guns are OP (turning boss fights into 20 minute long "hold square" challenges), and the story is pointless. The game sucked enough that Capcom put it at the very end of the DMC continuity so that they wouldn't have to reference it ever again.

There's a bit of speculation that DMC5 might take place after it, though. Mostly based on Dante getting out of Hell and how rough and dirty he looked in the trailer.

Can safely avoid it then. How rough is the first one? Ive heard its quite difficult.

If you're playing the HD Collection, then it isn't. Just keep in mind that its life started as Resident Evil 4 (3.5 beta style), so it has fixed camera angles and a sp00py mansion. As long as you don't play it like a musou game and learn the movesets then you should be fine.

The man doing Dante's motion capture and face. Either the trailer was just a bad shot and he won't look as dumb in game, or he will look even dumber by comparison to this guy.

Are we hoping Vergil is gonna be the villain or a good guy? I'd love to fight him again, but the thought of him teaming up with his brother and son is too enticing.

Underwater combat and that space battle against Mundus still give me conniptions. It's definitely not as fun to play as 3, that's for sure.

I think the prevailing theory is that he's the one who took Nero's arm.

Speaking of Nero, here's some gameplay.

That's a given at this point but if you look closely, he looks like his corrupted form so he's either:

A) Still under some sort of remaining Mundus-ish influence

B) The big bad

I hope he gets restored though

I'm partial to the theory that Virgil took the devil bringer because Yamato was inside it. If he's anything good to the protagonists, he will probably be trying to accomplish the same thing as them (destroy the tree) but in his special Virgil way that doesn't leave room for friends/allies.
