tbh this is the only kind of payment feature they should have implemented. paying for cosmetics is just fine. they shouldnt have charged people an arm and a leg for glorified gameplay patches. this is just icing on the cake now.

I doubt this would happen, but it'd be neat if we got free quests in exchange for people buying cosmetic stuff, kinda like how it's being done in Halo 5 with REQ packs and free map DLC (well, to my understanding)

Its cosmetic so its alright. ...i don't really think they need more money but at least this will sustain the company to put some effort into patches when needed.

Selling the harder to acquire items (like the new monarchy ship or faction shaders) would be more profitable than emotes I'd think.

To be fair, in Destiny, emotes are more visible than some of the armour.
