Hmm...

Now what?
Yeah, that's pretty much what I'm thinking...now what?

Personally, there's just something about Destiny that puts off the "this game isn't going to last a year" vibe. It's popular now and everyone's excited, but...it's a disappointment for me after Halo.

Yeah, always online, no split screen, and just several other things made it sell badly. I mean, damn, 4 years and Bungie makes DLC planned that should be in the game. It's nothing special.

To say, 'nothing is true', is to realize that the foundations of society are fragile, and that we must be the shepherds of our own civilization. To say, 'everything is permitted', is to understand that we are the architects of our actions, and that we must live with their consequences, whether glorious or tragic.
Did you read the article? Destiny did not make $500 million in sales, Activision sold $500 million worth of Destiny content into the market.

I dunno. I've done about three planets worth of Destiny, so I'm assuming close to 3/4 of the story, and I have no fucking idea what's going on. There's no flow, no questions answered, and it's full of uninteresting characters and enemies that could have been plucked out of the Halo universe, reskinned, and tossed into Destiny.

I really don't see how this will be a global phenomenon in three years, let alone ten.

Not the best strategy, at least not all at once.

The game is missing a few key things necessary to survive.

Proxy chat is a must, especially since this is a social game. If bungies worried about people being dumb just give people the option to turn it off like in Halo 3.

Private matches are also a necessity, as it stands clans are absolutely worthless as there's no way to compete each other. This game is dead in the water competitively without them.

The game is dead competitively either way. Gear plays way too much of a role in the game. That's one thing that almost all great and competitive FPS games have in common: fair and common ground for its players. Destiny is all about farming the best legendary gear and upgrades, so unless something changes or everyone ends up maxing everything out anyways, Destiny is going to be a joke of a competitive game.
Think only Iron Banner takes stats into account. The regular matchmaking is all flat.

How exactly does that work then? Your weapons and gear don't give the damage, defense or attributes listed?
I have no idea, I just read it somewhere. I could be wrong lol

"Bungie has confirmed that they have leveled the damage input and output for Crucible players, regardless of weapons that are brought into the mode."

Looks like you're right to some extent. Although I don't know how armor and upgrades work though.
Yep, I just looked it up. The stats like RoF and impact are retained, and I think the armor upgrades (reload x faster, etc.) are also because they essentially act as perks.

I have a feeling Bungie never planned the first Destiny to be perfect, I think they are going all out on the second game/expansions. Which sucks.

^This, they're holding back stuff to add in the next one. They could have made Destiny much better but they left shit out so they could market it for Destiny 2.

The article doesn't say what Destiny's sales were. It just says that Activision sold $500 million worth of merchandise into the market.

They reported a $500,000 sell in figure, which means that there's 500,000 dollars worth of Destiny copies to be sold by retailers. We don't know the day one sell-through (or actual sales) numbers yet.
