Never really understood the antithetical circle jerk of people bragging that the game was easy. Yeah, it's easy once you learn the mechanics. Pyro wipes the floor with literally every enemy and boss in DkS. But you can't deny how well the game challenges you to adapt to new scenarios and punishes you for getting into a routine. I'd say that if you noticed a marked change in difficulty throughout the game, it's because the game succeeded in showing you how to be better.

Dark Souls is only hard because most "hard" modes nowadays are just "half the attack power of the player, double the enemies' health" and encourages just spamming every enemy you come across until they're dead. Dark Souls is just being patient and observant. Really, its only "hard" bit is how it sends you back to the bonfire without your souls, but it's not hard to just run past every enemy to get back to where you were.

Nope, haven't been brutally punished. Likely because I'm extremely adaptive to changing circumstances and very quick at it. Still not challenging enough though.

1. The only thing I like about Dark Souls is the lore, which is very well done.

2. once you get to a certain point you pretty much have a strategy and it's pretty easy.
