No FPS game since Halo 2 has let me skip 80% of the combat. No FPS also had as much bullet magnetism.

You can say objectively as much as you want it doesn't make it true. Halo 2 was fun but let's cut the crap, most glorify it because of nostalgia not actual good gameplay.

I've been playing Star Wars Bounty Hunter on the PS2 these past few days, something I have not done for probably more than a decade (I had it for Gamecube though). Games made in the early-mid 2000s had a personality and style that can't be replicated, it is hard to put it into words. Bounty Hunter for example, is a game that doesn't hold your hand. There's no waypoints guiding you. There are still checkpoints, but you only have five retries. Level design is varied and interesting. Combat is repetitive but it is still a great game. There's no regenerating health- you need to collect Bacta tanks dropped by enemies. Also, I consider Halo 2 to be the Empire Strikes Back of Halo. I think Halo 3 was a step backwards visually. Everything looks to clean and bright.
Simply because the best possible game was released almost 11 years ago.
