I think the overall consensus is that 3 is still good, it's just not spooky.

Then again, thinking about it, I never played Dead Space for the spooky. I started playing the first game because it just drew me into it. The setting, the mystery, and the lingering question of how the fuck Isaac was gonna make it.

I haven't played it yet, but I hear the gunplay and related mechanics in 3 was good. I played the demo and it was solid.
