i just know that blizzard is tryna silence people who support the hong kong protest? ive seen a lotta people refusing to play their games now, wanting to delete their accounts... tell this dumb millennial the news

You got the basic gist of it. Blizzard banned a pro-Hearthstone player from competing next year for supporting the Hong Kong protests. This causes a huge amount of backlash from fans and they decide to boycott their games/burn their collections/chargeback their payments. To make matters worse, users are finding it a little hard to delete their Blizzard accounts and preventing payments from being canceled, creating an even bigger PR nightmare for Blizzard.

They cancelled the Overwatch on Switch launch event in NYC. I have little doubt it was due to the current events surrounding Blizz.
