Jacob Potila was actually a Jacob Flotilla of lies.- WarTurkey
I heard it was, but it also has Miyazaki leading it. How do you think it will turn out?

If Miyazaki is leading it then what does that tell you? The only thing B-team lacked was the direction OF Miyazaki, because they still did a lot of things right in Dark Souls 2.

Hopefully Dark Souls 3 won't be Buff Souls 3 though because buffs killed PvP in DS2, along with soul memory.

Not really it just added strategic depth, suddenly some weapons weren't objectively worse than others because they were arbitrarily given less stats, buff meta allows your choice of weapon to involve a lot more about the weapon's moveset.

People look at DS1 PvP with so much bias, poise was such a massive barrier to entry for builds that you only saw two or three builds.

but yeah soul memory is what the fuck tier design

Buffs made the weapon go to max damage, regardless of your build or how much you put into the said skill tree. It'd be fine if they were rare but everyone was using them because they were so easy to get.

It helped ruin builds and PvP.

It helped ruin builds and PvP.
It helped vary damage types and encourage putting thought into elemental resistances, and since it allowed a ton of weapons to finally see play, it ultimately fosters more build diversity so you're not playing against Giant Dads every invade. With the myriad of new weapons being played, it made you have to adapt and play around more weapon's skillsets, which ultimately makes PvP more thoughtful and meaningful rather than, "oh i stacked enough poise so now I win any trade regardless of playstyle or build"

I think it negated any of what you said seeing as they did an asinine amount of damage regardless of what build you were. It just became hard hitting central with them. I'd agree with you more if you had to actually infuse your weapons at the blacksmith for said effects, but not just simple powders to power em up.

You're literally forgetting how buffs made speed weapons king. Heavy weapons, short range weapons, lower ended weapons, they were all garbage and thrown out the window for speed.

Literally all I see anymore are fucking crystal magic buffed rapiers that ignore the concept of physical damage protection because it's a piercing weapon combined with magic which fucks armour up even more.

How about LOLpoise? Rapiers have the range of a football field and when buffed can stunlock full havels, ring of giants, and an iron flesh buffed character who has all three going for them.

Yeah, poise being broken allowed fun builds like fisti cuffs builds to actually be viable.

But fucking buffs destroyed any fun to be had when some dickwad does 3 pokes to you and you're dead.

The only reasons Rapiers are an issue are their retarded ghost range combined with the game's bad connectivity.

They aren't king. I played shirtless double giant clubs and maintained 50/50. It's just about seeing windows and not extending because hurr durr i have big weapon im invinsibleh

The only window I've ever seen with a rapier is this.

>Swing your weapon and get LOLpoised out of your swing while taking massive critical counter damage.

I use 99 str dual wield greatswords with flynns ring and ring of blades +2, and with all of that power I can only four shot people. Rapiers don't even give you a fucking chance anymore. You make ONE mistake and you're stunlocked dead. Sometimes you don't even have to make a mistake because the connection will do it for you.

What kind of fucking sense is that where dual wield geatswords taken to the utter maximum possible limit of damage can only four shot people, 3 if they're naked, while a single rapier can three shot you in the span of 2 seconds?

And I haven't even started talking about the Ice rapier yet.

I too enjoyed how buffed weapons could all kill in two hits, making bit heavy weapons pretty much useless.

And, you know what's even better? I use both illusionary rings on my greatswords so people don't see them. As soon as people see that you have a heavy weapon out in Souls II it's a death sentence for you because then they just play as a conservative rapier shield turtler.

Let me make this clear. I'm going to go into the math on this.

99 str standard dual greatswords at 10+, buffed with 50 extra attack damage from RoB+2 and the additional but slightly decreased of Flynn's ring means that my swords do 740 damage each.

Some times I swap to the stone ring to gain that additional 15 poise damage which becomes 30 when multiplied by two.

Mulitiplied by power stancing them so that both of their poise damage is stacked along with their damage when I hit somebody, means that I should absolutely demolish anybody poise wise and health wise when they take a hit from me.

And I still can't win a trade with a singular rapier.

I've collectively no-lifed Dark Souls II dude. Those two illusionary rings I have are a statement to that. I know this game's mechanics inside and out.

And you can not feasibly tell me that buffs did not ruin pvp.

I've got a decent amount of faith though. As far as things go, B-Team still did good work. They only really had a few hitch ups here and there and if they don't make the same mistake this time around then they'll do fine.

Their head honcho of the team knows what he's doing and I figure he'll make all the right calls. It's a shame though, honestly. I get the feeling the Dark Souls 3(really doesn't roll off the tongue there, should call it quits for the series after that) is going to be what Dark Souls II should have really been.
