Yeah but battlefield was the progenitor of the near future fps with 2142 so a successor is pretty logical -especially with what we got in the Final Stand DLC

Besides, future war themes are really boring if you don't go in for mechs and hovertanks and cool aircraft - that's basically what battlefield revolves around.

Spring 2014 they made it playable (About 4-5 months)
September 2014 they fixed it fully (10 months total)
Spring 2015 - Gameplay/Balance improvements
Autumn 2015 - Balance and new free content
Winter 2015 - Same as above
Spring 2016 - New content rumoured to be on the way, again for free

Just what exactly is your entitled ass whining about still?
The game was broken at launch, then they fixed it and have spent the last year and a half improving and tweaking the game from community feedback, created the CTE to test their shit before launching new content and patches and are still continuing support for a title that came out two and a half years ago.

Most AAA companies release a few patches and some DLC then move on already, DICE fucked up and they've gone above and beyond to make up for that.

Not really. It's just putting you in a different sandbox that has just as much potential to be fun as a shooter set in a different time period. It really just depends on how the game is made. Verdun already proved that you can make a fun WW1 shooter so if BF5 is actually going to be set in WW1 it'll be interesting to see what they do with the setting.
