Think about it, alot of overhyped games that came out this year were actually pretty bad. Watchdogs for instance had a bunch of things wrong, including bad graphics. although that was based off a comparison between the e3 demo and the actual product or whatever... Titanfall was just a mess, and We all know what happened to destiny.

yet from what ive also heard, sunset overdrive is pretty amazing. The game was pretty underhyped right? then again some underhyped games are also pretty bad too. But it does certainly beg the question. Are underhyped games worse or better than those that are overhyped?
what do you think?

Overhyped games are almost always bad.

It would be hard to be disappointed in something that's underhyped

the one true God is Doctor Doom and we should all be worshiping him.
Overhyped games always lead to disappointment. Underhyped games sometimes turn out to be an unexpected gem, once in a while.

They are worse. No matter what the game is and ho makes it the game will never live up to your hype. I was kinda hyping GTA 5 and that disappointed. GTA Online is not about fun, it's about RockStar making money. The environment is a big step above GTA 4's but it's still empty and hardly anything to it. There's hardly a variety to it compared to San Andreas.

If I'm not here, I'm doing photography. Or I'm asleep. Or in lockdown. One of those three, anyway.

The current titlebar/avatar setup is just normal.
Overhyping games gives you a really high expectation of the final product. Then when it's released, it's sucky.

Think Destiny, and everytime a CoD or BF is hyped all over the everywhere. The only game I think was hyped to general expectations and delivered well was GTA V, and that only failed on giving online heists (which everyone's knickers are in a twist about...) Older ones would be Borderlands, seeing as that had TV ads and stuff knocking around and it got a good reception from most people.

Underhyping, while not expanding your audience very well are usually better games. I think of the Metro series in this regard, that was a marvelous game and I'd virtually never heard about it from anywhere. Early Minecraft had essentially no advertising until it had become popular and was being talked about, and now look at it, one of the most bought games of all time.

So... I guess I'm going to have to pick up after your horrendous mistakes on here too?
When people don't expect anything from underhyped games and they have something up their sleeve, it's usually better.

Goodness gracious, great balls of lightning!
I overhyped GTA 5. That was a huge mistake.

exactly. because if you dont know much about a game because it hasn't been broadcasted enough and you buy it, it turns out awesome.

The only hype I have currently is for Battlefront. Imagine if they announce a beta...

His eyebrows sparkling, his white beard hangs down to his chest. The thatched mats, spread outside his chise, spread softly, his splendid attos. He polishes, cross-legged, his makiri, with his eyes completely absorbed.

He is Ainu.

The god of Ainu Mosir, Ae-Oine Kamuy, descendant of Okiku-Rumi, He perishes, a living corpse. The summers day, the white sunlight, unabrushed, ends simply through his breath alone.
If a game is unheard of, it's either bad or a hidden gem. if it's the former, it's unheard of for a reason. If a game is extremely overhyped, it will be a disappointment because the product will never match the hype. Even if it's a good game, it will be disappointing in comparison to its expectations.

That's why Half-Life 3 will never be released.

The only way to win is to expect everything to suck (or, at least, expect not to get blown away). That way, maximum enjoyment can be achieved, because you lowered your expectations to that extent. But not too low, so that you blind yourself.

You'll also never get dehydrated again, because there will be a deluge of fanboy tears for you. That's my favorite part!

I haven't been hyped for a game since Brawl, which ended up being god-awful. Everything else I've played since then, even if I hate the game, I'm still able to find enjoyment in there somewhere. And it just feels good not ever being disappointed. Ever!
