It's either going to be released and be an utter disappointment, or it'll never be released and people get to continue overrating the franchise. I think it's pretty obvious which route Valve is taking.

If Valve ever did release it when they were supposed to, it may not have been a disappointment. It was Half Life 2: Episode 3 after all. We knew what to expect. Nothing new in other words. It wasn't a brand new game. The gameplay would be the same. Maybe improved graphics. They just needed to finish the story.
