emigrate or degenerate. the choice is yours
I find it hard to believe that the world powers would enter a resource war when everyone's technology relies on nuclear fission.

Like, I know Fallout is supposed to be wacky and unrealistic, but the fact that America was fighting with China over oil when all their technology is nuclear powered seems a tad odd.

His eyebrows sparkling, his white beard hangs down to his chest. The thatched mats, spread outside his chise, spread softly, his splendid attos. He polishes, cross-legged, his makiri, with his eyes completely absorbed.

He is Ainu.

The god of Ainu Mosir, Ae-Oine Kamuy, descendant of Okiku-Rumi, He perishes, a living corpse. The summers day, the white sunlight, unabrushed, ends simply through his breath alone.

Not all of the technology prior to the 2050s were nuclear powered. Frim what I undrrstand, they never really dabbled with alternative energy outside of military application until the last oil reserves were almost depleted. The pipboy and T-series Power Armor were some of the few examples of technological shrinking present.

Weren't vehicles and Mr Handy robots powered by nuclear fission?

It seems weird that the Fallout universe made such massive technological advances yet still seem to rely on oil, especially seeing as how we've been able to harness nuclear energy since the 70s.

Vertibirds use oil still, so I'd garner to say that cars did too. Mr Handy robots used fission, but they entered the market in 2037. A vast majority of practical technology still used oil rather than nuclear power.

And it's a dystopian view of the future that the people in the early to mid 20th century saw. That's why it's all tail-fins and greasers.

Because the vacuum tubes were all the rage until the middle of the 21st century, miniaturization didn't occur until much later than it did in reality. So while they used laser guns in Fallout, we have many technological advancements over them in other departments.
